JUZTIN BELLO

Juztin Bello (he/him/his) is an author, freelance journalist, copy editor, and aspiring comedy writer from Vancouver, BC. He is a graduate of Simon Fraser University, with a Bachelors in Arts and Social Sciences. His debut novel, Knight in Shining Armour, released on June 18, 2024, and on its first day rose to #1 in both Best Sellers and Hot New Releases under Amazon's LGBTQ2S Romance for Young Adults category.

 

Juztin's first venture into the journalism world was through a job at The Peak, a university publication, where he worked as their sole copy editor for a year and a half. During his stint with The Peak, he wrote many articles, including satirical humour pieces, op-eds, and queer-driven narrative pieces. His time as copy editor taught him various skills in attentiveness, avoiding libel, and, most importantly, patience. He was also heavily involved in The Peak’s podcast, The Peak Speaks, appearing on several episodes and spearheading episode ideas during the switch to video content.

Along with his copy editing experience, Juztin has also worked as a copywriter, developing brand journalism for separate companies through interning with Moonraker PR. His diverse branding voice ranged from interior design tips to recommendations on HVAC purchases, and each opportunity saw him utilising his honed SEO skills. He also, for a time, worked as a list article writer under Valnet Inc., covering topics such as video games, tabletop roleplaying games, and anime.​

In 2020 Juztin won the Humour Award at the 2020 John H. McDonald Awards for Excellence in Student Journalism with his article “CONFESSIONALS: The housing crisis in Vancouver is ruining my sex life.”
